Embroidery and Lace, Ritual Art, Paper Cutting
Zofia Pacan continues Opoczno ritual traditions that she learned in her family home. Zofia makes lace, cross-stitch embroidery that she uses to decorate tablecloths, doilies, regional-style shirts, handkerchiefs. She also makes crepe paper ornaments – flowers, bouquets, Easter palms, pająki decorations, Opoczno paper cut-outs in the form of a square, stars, rods. She took part in many contests, exhibitions in Poland and abroad, for instance in Sweden, Belgium, France, Austria, China and Finland. She is a member of Folk Artists’ Association. Zofia has won awards, including Oskar Kolberg’s award “for merits in service to folk culture”, as well as awards in voivodeship contests.
