Włodzimierz Ciszek
For over 30 years he has been making folk toys, continuing family traditions. His father, Stanisław, used to make toys too. Mr Ciszek makes: barrows, carts, cribs, cubic rattles and coaches with horses, horses on wheels, small carousels running on a stick and “klepoki” (birdlike toys with flapping wings) and pecking hens and roosters. Mr Ciszek’s works are featured, among others, in Museums of Ethnography in Warsaw and Toruń. Włodzimierz took part in contests and exhibitions put together by Museum of Ethnography in Cracow, Opole Village Museum, Museum of Toys and Play in Kielce, as well as Regional Cultural Centre in Bielsko-Biała, where at the 10th, anniversary, International Traditional Toy Contest he received the first-class award of distinction. In 2013 he won the contest for the Artist of the Jagiellonian Fair. He is a member of the Folk Artists’ Association.
