Wiesława and Marian Łoboz

Wiesława and Marian Łoboz specialise in toymaking embedded in the Żywiec Beskids traditions. It’s a craft that Marian learned at home, Wiesława learned it from his parents and over time their son, Piotr, also joined them. Looking at the precision and the almost perfect repeatability of their toy designs, one can think that it is impossible to achieve this effect in manual work. However, it is enough to observe the Łoboz family at work to see that thanks to their great experience, they only need one little knife to make beautiful items.  They are members of Folk Artists’ Association. In 2019, they received the Oskar Kolberg Award for merits to folk culture.

The toymaking traditions of żywiec and Sucha Beskidzka were entered into the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.
