Mieczysław Zawadzki

Mieczysław  has been sculpting since 1977. He is a member of Folk Artists’ Association.  For years he has been associated with a group of sculptors belonging to the  Centre of Folk Sculpture in Łuków.  His sculptures present sacral themes and show strong emotional ties to village life. They have rich, vibrant colours and simple form.  The sculptures are made of one piece of mostly linden wood and form both complex compositions as well as simple representations. For the 30th anniversary of his work, he received the scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2003).  Since 1994 he has been running a sculpting school.  For the lifetime of his work, he has received the Silver Cross of Merit as well as  “Dinstinguished Cultural Service” Award and the medal “For Merits to Polish Culture” and “For Merits in Service to Siedleckie Voivodeship”.
