Larysa and Volodymir Kusyk
Ceramics and pottery
Volodymyr Kusyk studied at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, where he focused on pottery. Since 1991, he has been maintaining the Volyn pottery traditions – the production of the so-called black ceramics (made by firing in earth furnaces without oxygen). Since 1995 he has been working as a teacher in art schools. In 2016 he received the award for Merits to Folk Culture. Since 2017 he has been the chairman of the Volyn branch of the National Association of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine. He takes part in exhibitions and artistic projects.
Larysa Kusyk is primarily engaged in decorating ceramics. Since 2002 she has participated in regional, all-Ukrainian and international exhibitions and pottery symposia.
Both are members of the Ukrainian Folk Artists’ Association and take part in fairs in Poland and Ukraine.
