Janina Furtak

Janina Furtak comes from Bałtów, a village in the Lublin region. She has been weaving since her childhood, thanks to her mom who passed on her skills to her.  Janina grows the flax used to make the cloth for clothing, tablecloths, aprons.  She uses whatever swatches remain to make traditional, colourful runners. She also makes beautiful crepe paper decorations. She has received many awards and distinctions for her long-time contributions to the popularisation of traditional culture. She has been a member of Folk Artists’ Association since 1985.
