Ivan Suprunchyk

Sculpture

Born in 1942 in the Belarusian village Terebletsche. He makes his works only using an axe. He carves in huge  blocks of wood of different varieties. His favourite themes are Slavic folklore and mythology. He makes figures of divinities, old women, old men as well as sacral-themed sculptures. He also does graphic design.

In Terebletsche he founded Museum of Ethnography that holds most of his works as well as a collection of traditional tools used at work in nearby villages. Ivan took part in many competitions and exhibitions. He has received the award “For spiritual revival”  granted by the President of the Republic of Belarus.
