Halina Kurek has been embroidering for over 40 years. Not only does she continue family traditions thanks to designs she has inherited after her mother, but she also refers to the legacy of the s0-called Ziemianka School of Nałęczów that until 1936 taught embroidery, among other things, to local girls. The designs developed by the school and preserved until today are used by the members of the Nałęczów Crafts Club “Ziemianka” of which Halina is a member. The artist’s favourite works are kitchen makatka tapestries made from cotton and linen.
