Bogumiła Leśniak

Woodwork, Sculpture, Toys

Woodworking has been in Bogumiła Lesniak’s family for several generations. Bogumiła’s grandmother made toys for “Makowianka” cooperative and her mother worked at a Craftsmen Cooperative, while  in the 1980s, she took over her husband’s family tradition – making  Stryszawa wooden birds. This is why, aside from  sculptures and reliefs, her stall also features colourful Stryszawa-style birds. She uses pine and linden wood. She’s a member of Folk Artists’ Association. She has won many awards and distinctions, most notably the medal For Merits to Polish Culture and the Silver Cross of Merit.
