Ritual Art

Alicja Matczak has been involved in ritual and decorative art since she was 10. She learned her first designs from her mother Józefa Matejczyk and her grandmother. Her mother taught her how to make crepe paper flowers used for decorating garlands for village crosses and chapels. Ms Matczak makes crepe paper flowers, Łowicz pająki decorations. She also makes paper cut-outs, pysanki, Christmass tree ornaments and wreathes for Łowicz wedding ceremonies. She is a member of Folk Artists’ Association. She has won many awards and distinctions, among them the medal for merits to Polish Culture.
