More than honey – film
dir. Markus Imhoof
Bees are an essential part of the Earth’s ecosystem, and their work significantly increases crop yield. They have inhabited Earth as long as humans, but when they die out, as Einstein said, humans would have no more than four years left to live. The director Markus Imhoof, the grandson of a beekeeper, talks about the current severe crisis of the bee population. Millions have died in the last decade. Does this mean we can expect a total crisis? Travelling with his camera all around the world, from Europe to the USA, Australia and China, he has recorded areas where bees live and used macro shots to show how the bees live and behave in nests and hives. In the film, we meet beekeepers, scientists and farmers.
