Folk pająk (spider-like chandelier) – installation
Pająk has been accompanying the Fair since 2015. Each year it takes on a different form to relate to the theme of the given edition. This year’s installation is inspired by beekeeping, including traditional hives, straw skeps. The pająk is the work of two artists. Mr Mikołaj Pietruczuk, a folk artist and basket maker, has made the skeps. Tomasz Krajewski, a folk artist specialising in ritual art, has decorated it in the fashion of traditional pająki.
Pająki were elements of interior decoration in Polish villages of the past. Elaborate geometric structures characterise them.
