Ahidous dance – cancelled

Tahidous is one of the most commonplace dances of the Berbers from central Morocco, who call themselves “Amazig” (“free people”). This dance is very complex and is performed during holidays, in the summer, after the harvest or nearly every evening in the villages.

The dancers form a circle, a semi-circle: alternately men and women, very close to one another, shoulder to shoulder, making up one block. The dance is performed to the accompaniment of tambourines and other instruments: lutar (lyre) or the instrument violent. It is also strengthened by clapping. All movements and steps are made collectively, which highlights their unique character.
