Mażurki are a family band. They play obereks, poleczka (little polkas), rdzuchowiak and mazurkas left behind by Jan Gaca – the late violinist from Kajoki micro-region in Radom area. The band, whose core members are a husband and wife, refers to the ancient concept of bidakapela (lit. poor bands) that, due to low budget, consisted only of family members, regardless of the level of music skills. Mażurki is a different story. Jan Gaca, Mażurki’s patron, thoroughly trained all its members, even guests. That’s why Mażurki are able to, nearly as skillfully as their master, snatch us to a dance full of majestic craziness.
