Kapela Zdzisława Marczuka

Zdzisław Marczuk – one of the greatest musicians from the Lublin region, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. He was born in 1943. He lives in the village of Zakalniki in Konstantynów commune. He comes from a family of musicians. He started to play the violin at the age of 11. He has also mastered the accordion, drum and trumpet. He’s an excellent pedagogue and culture animator. He has been teaching music and encouraging teenagers from Podlasie to pick up folk music. He has established many bands, including Kapela Sąsiedzka in Zakalinki. At present, he plays in the band along with two of his students – Paulina Kwaśniewska and Karolina Szymula or son Tomasz. The band cultivates the music traditions of southern Podlasie and presents a rich repertoire consisting of polkas, obereks and walczyk (little waltzes).
