Kaprysy Łazarza

The literary material that inspired Janusz Zaorski to create his film was  Stanisław Grochowiak’s radio drama. It is a story about an old man who is nearing the end of his  days. His family and neighbours are ready for his passing. His wife is almost a widow, the coffin is ready  and the priest is waiting. However, it turns out that the main person concerned starts acting contrary to all expectations. Jacenty does not want to die peacefully like everyone expects him to. He starts negotiating conditions on which he wants to pass on. He argues with his family, the priest, neighbours, even Death itself…. The film is ripe with plebeian, often black, humour.  The actors- and leading representatives of Polish actors star in the film – turn their roles into real gems of acting craft. // source: www.filmpolski.pl, runtime: 72 min
