Dominican Tales

“On 22 December 1216, Pope Honorius II approves Ordo Praedicatorum established by the Spanish canon….”

The 800th anniversary of the Dominican Order is the best time to “set off on the road and on an adventure with the Word and for the Word…”

Poławiacze Pereł will improvise the retellings of Dominican Tales , beginning with the story about healing a student of debauchery, through water miracle, adventures with the devil, famous feats of the virgin Katarzyna and stories about a monk who was liberated from smoking addiction as well ironic medieval anecdotes about monks and nuns. Improvised tales about everyday lives of great scholars, mystics and artists of the eight hundred year old Order, incluging Albertus Magnus, Thomas Aquinas, Maister Eckhart or Fra Angelico.

Vibrant tales, collected and edited by Father Jacek Salij OP will be the foundation for recalling all those incredible stories one more time.

The legend will be chosen by the audience in attendance. The edited text will be read aloud by a Special Guest. On the one hand, Dominican legends are varied bur on the other hand they always refer to important things and despite the passage of time their messages always remain valid. The legends do not refer only to distant times. Even today, the monks tell stories, anecdotes about events that re more familiar to us. And though they are not always as colourful or incredible and sometimes tend to even be too realistic, they still play the same role: show our life from a different perspective.
